The 2016 Asia Championships Online Qualifier is one workout, scored in three parts.

Part 1
From 00:00 - 06:00, complete as many rounds and reps as possible of:

10 Handstand Push Ups
10 Deadlifts (185 lb. /125 lb.) 
30 Double Unders

  • Score will be total reps completed in this round.
  • Tie-break time is time on the clock after the last completed round. If athlete does not complete one round, tie-break time is 6:00. The clock will continue to run. 

Part 2
From 06:00 - 12:00,

Establish 1-RM Thruster

  • Score is heaviest lift made in pounds. Multiply kilos by 2.2. There is no tie-break for this event.
  • The clock will continue to run.

Part 3
From 12:00 - 18:00, complete as many reps as possible of:

15 Overhead Squats (115 lb./ 75 lb.)
20 Pull Ups
15 Overhead Squats (135 lb./ 95 lb.)
20 Chest to Bar Pull Ups
15 Overhead Squats (155 lb./ 105 lb.)
As many bar muscle ups as possible in the remaining time

  • Score will be total reps completed in this round.
  • Tie-break time is time on the clock after the last completed round of overhead squats. If athlete does not complete one round, tie-break time is 18:00.

ELITE MEN/WOMEN

Who can compete?

  • Elite category is open to athletes of all ages. 

LEGACY MEN/WOMEN

Who can compete?

  • The Legacy category is open to all athletes aged or turning 35 and above in the 2016 calendar year (Jan 1 - Dec 31, 2016). This means that the youngest person eligible to compete in the Legacy category would celebrate was born on Dec 31, 1981.
     
  • Proof of age will be required upon acceptance to advance to Division, and can come in the form of any ID stating your date of birth.

What if I am over 35 and would like to compete in the Elite division?

  • Athletes aged 35 and above are welcome to compete in the Elite category, should they choose to do so. The workouts will not be scaled for their purpose, and athletes are liable to ensure their own safety in the competition in making the decision to compete in a separate category. 

PROOF OF RESIDENCY

How will you verify that athletes are based where they claim to live? 

  • Athletes must also provide proof of residency in order to accept the invitation to advance to the next few stages of the Championships. Proof of residency can be a utility bill, license, passport or any form of identification that identifies your residential address to your name.


ONLINE WORKOUTS

A series of workouts will be released on Apr 8, 2016. Upon which, athletes will be given a week to submit all scores. Registration for the qualifier will remain open until the very last day of score submission - April 4, 2016. 


SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Please make sure all submissions have:

  • a final score
  • matching video proof with valid movement standards and score count (will be requested in the event of qualification) 

Athletes are entitled to unlimited re-attempts for all workouts and may continually change their scores until the scoring window closes. However, all final scores must have a matching video submission in order for the score to be valid. 

Scoring window closes on the midnight (UTC+8) of April 12, 2016. 


ADVANCEMENT

Top 32 individual athletes, and 16 masters' athletes from each Division will be invited to compete in one of four sanctioned tournaments. Based on your country of residence, you would fall within and compete in separate divisions.

The 2016 Divisions are as follows:

  • West: Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Brunei, Indonesia, Vietnam 
  • Central: Hong Kong, Taiwan, China, Japan, Macau
  • North: Korea
  • East: Philippines, Guam 

Preliminary Divisions include:

  • Russia: Russia & Kazakhstan 
  • China: China*

*China-based athletes invited to advance can choose to attend either Central Division or the Preliminary China Division - the difference in the two is that podium finishers for Central Divisions gain direct advancement to the Grand Final, whereas all preliminary China division results advance only via wildcards, if any. 

All individual athletes competing the Pacific Regionals are granted exemption from the Divisional Tournaments, and gain direct advancement to the Asia Championships Grand Final.

Host facilities registered with the Asia Championships are empowered with the ability to verify scores for the qualifier. Athletes performing their qualifier workouts at any of the following gyms will not be required to submit video proof of their performance.
